Continuos screen power on #72

Honor 6 - Kitkat 4.4.2. Hello, when I receive a notification on the lockscreen (with the screen switched off) the screen turns on and if I don't open the notification, after some seconds, the screen switch correctly off but immediatly turns on again, and continues to do this until I open the notification or unlock the phone. Even if I double tap to turn off the screen, it returns on at the same. I tried to disable the active mode in the app setting but it's the same problem. Please can you help me to solve this issue...I love this app and I would like to use it, but with this problem I'm scared to drain the battery..... Thanks

Device Configuration: Samsung Galaxy S4, 5.0.1 all stock not rooted.

It seems that all the lockscreen apps have this problem (at least for me) for I had these issues on acDisplay as well as others that I tried. I think I narrowed it down to two possible issues, probably a combination of both of them.

  1. Are you using acDisplay as a lockscreen replacement? Because there is a warning about it being a beta feature and not totally stable yet. When I turned this feature off, and just had acDisplay showing recent notifications it had no trouble going, and staying asleep.
  2. It may be the lollipop update for me as i never had this issue back when I was on kitkat. It's definitely possible that there were some changes to how the lockscreen worked (on Google or Samsung's part) which could be causing this issue.

Potential fixes: For me the issue was partially resolved by keeping the stock samsung lockscreen on swipe, while still having acDisplay act as the lockscreen. This stopped the continuous screen wake, and allowed the notification to stay on the lockscreen, but not all the time. sometimes the screen will still stay on until the notification is dismissed. Obviously, we don't have the same phone (same as anyone else who might be reading this) so YYMV.

Update (1/24/16):

Still have the issue on my phone. Running 5.0.1 stock lollipop rooted. I futzed around with the settings to try and fix it to no avail. I'm gonna send @AChep a logcat within a day or two with a couple options turned on and off and hopefully he can figure out whats going on.

Is there an app that is starting a sticky notification (the type you can't clear)? This could be triggering all the time and causing the screen to turn on / stay on.

Try changing "Minimum Priority" in the settings to a higher one and see if it still happens. Or try blacklisting the app causing the sticky notifications.

@huffstler Hi, does it happen with some specific notifications or randomly or even without notifications?

huffstler commented 8 years ago

@AChep, so far the only notification where i've had this happen is with Textra. Snapchat and Tinder both don't seem to cause it as far as I can tell. Those are the only types of notifications that i've gotten in the last 24 hours. I'm gonna try another texting app and try to work out if it's Textra or SMS.

@sorab2142 the only permanent notification is the one for ACDisplay itself. That and the wifi connection notification.
