Not working for the Eris. Kernel needs to be patched? If so how?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. try and run it on the eris 
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it runs but no option to connect ever comes up on the computer

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
newest wired tether app, ive tried it on lucid lynx, mac 10.4, and snow leopard

Please provide any additional information below.
using the stock kernel patched for OC, im mostly curious on how the  kernel 
needs to be patched, none of the instructions are clear on that.

Check issue #16 and #21.  A fix is found here: 
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712706 but still needs to be 
implemented in the wired tether app.
