Works for 10-15 mins then tethered connection stops working, Droid 1 Froyo

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start wired tether app
2. browse internet or download for 10-15 mins
3. connection stops working but still shows connected

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the tethered connection to stay up indefinitely but instead it stops 
transferring data even though the 3g connection on my phone is still working 
and the tether app shows it is still connected.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
latest v1.4

Please provide any additional information below.
I'm running a rooted Droid 1 with Sapphire v1.1 rom but this person has bugless 
beast and has the same issue:

Same problem here, and I believe the issue is that verizon is getting alerts to 
the sudden increase in the data flow, assumes that you are tethering, even 
though they can't prove it at all, and filter/cap/limit your data flow 
temporarily.
