Perhaps teachers can leave commentary as to why someone's homework was accepted/declined.

That way people know what they did wrong and why the have to fix it. Or if a teacher likes it, why their particular work was praise worthy.

Wanted to do an approach with fancybox but their free version is not for commercial use, damnit. Going to have to find a way how to get people to be able to include a little comment without having to formalize everything.
