Everybody who wants to help - already can. You can fork the repo and work on your fork, then when you're done, PR it here. I'll also say to do something that needs to be done, not something you thought of would be nice addition (remeber, currently we are just porting without adding anything new or changing majorly server side code). Depending on which part you work on (models or internal rendering), you may want to ask @dpeter99 (models) or @JosephRymer or me.
Okay cool. Well no i did not want to add new things. I just dont know where to start. I looked through the code and there are a lot of things i dont really understand. For example. The only thing i have rendered so far was a normal block with an animated texture. But i guess rendering is currently the only thing that really needs to be ported, because all the logic should stay the same, or am i wrong with this assumption.
I am willing to learn new things by myself but I really need a little kick start so I know where to start.
Yep. Try to read through our issues (mostly #9 and #10), you may get what is happening.
Glad to see we are getting the community involved @elix-x
Is there a chat or something where everybody can write each other without spamming the comments of an issue?
We kinda have multiple issues for that... And can't always spam each other due to different time zones / free time.

Hey, i really love Applied Energistics. And i looked through the discussion about porting it to 1.9 and all that so i decided to offer my help. I have about 5 years of Java programming experience. I do know about Design Patterns, Data Structures and a bunch of other stuff. I already made 1 mod so far, even though it is still in development but i would probably still need some explanations on how certain stuff works. Anyways i really would like to help you bringing this mod back and if you are willing to help me understand mod programm a bit more i would be very pleased to help you.
PS: Currently i am a student, so i will be busy sometimes but i am dedicated to help every second i can.
