We'll meet for the first time next week on Wednesday (Monday is Columbus Day). Since we're already a week into the quarter I wanted to set expectations for next week so that we can hit the ground running. Below is a checklist of steps to complete before we meet:
Install R, RStudio, and git on your machine - I already provided you a link to the online book that contains instructions to install and configure the R toolchain for data science. Just in case here it is again https://datasciencelabs.io/r-basics/.
Join the DataCamp course - I think everyone has already done this.
Review the materials on datacamp - I see that many of you have jumped in on this. These materials are intended to help you get familiar with R, rmarkdown and git. These will continue to be available throughout the quarter.
Re-check the course syllabus - I've removed one of the course deliverables so that we can focus on quality over quantity. I also added instructions for completing the core deliverables to the bottom of the syllabus document. Please read these before we meet and be prepared to discuss.
Finally, Wednesday will be a bit of a whirlwind and I try to get us caught up a bit, so make sure that the above steps have been completed.
All,
We'll meet for the first time next week on Wednesday (Monday is Columbus Day).
Create an account on Github - Several of you still need to create an account on GitHub and post your username here (https://github.com/AFIT-R/LOGM655/issues/1).
Connect the course repo to your machine - Follow the instructions here (https://datasciencelabs.io/r-basics/installing-on-windows-machines.html#create-link-an-r-project) to create a project by linking it to the course github repo (URL: https://github.com/AFIT-R/LOGM655.git).
