gnaf-ont has some alignments expressed using owl:sameAs. This is generally not recommended for T-box elements - sameAs is primarily intended to be used for A-box (individuals). It is recommended to use equivalentProperty/Class axioms for T-box alignment.
However, if they are equivalent, then putting the alignment axiom in the ontology graph is tantamount to saying that a local property is not needed, as you can use the equivalent one instead.
