Feel free to check for yourself, but this fix doesn't seem to affect anything else and I am no longer able to replicate the issue.

PR modified to remove unnecessary commented code. The verbosity is greatly appreciated, but we do not want to keep irrelevant commented code around, as Git preserves it should we need to revert.

That aside, excellent work on hunting down and fixing this bug! I see no reason to maintain the color-swapping behavior. I wouldn't have even thought to look at the map drawing code, I'd have been messing with shaders for a while first.
