Consider using other markdown format and to automate Word file generation.

E.g. .adoc

Inclusion of markdown files to create complete doc on GitHub and then process to word?

Asciidoc considered. Not enough reasons to change format at this time. Issue withdrawn by original commenter. Continue use standard GitHub md.
