When you look at the introduction the Network on the About page, it doesn't tell you anything about how the Network actually works or what it means to be a member.
Most of it is when and who stuff, but that only tells you about the steering committee, which isn't very interesting and doesn't really tell me much about the character of the Network.
Here’s the current text:
The Australian Open Government Civil Society Network is a coalition of civil society organisations and individuals committed to making government work better for people through transparency, participation and accountability. The network collaborates with and challenges governments in Australia to develop and implement ambitious open government reforms through Australia’s membership of the Open Government Partnership.
The Australian Open Government Network was formed in December 2015 after the Australian government reaffirming its commitment to join the OGP.
There are already 50 members in the network. It is coordinated independently of government and has a steering group.
An interim Steering Committee and Convener will guide the activities of the network in its first 6 months.
The interim Steering Committee consists of organisational members
Dr Nicholas Gruen, Open Knowledge Australia
Jon Lawrence, Electronic Frontiers Australia
Phil Newman, Transparency International Australia.
Dr David Solomon AM (chair), Accountability Roundtable
Katherine Szuminska, OpenAustralia Foundation
and individuals:
Dr Johan Lidberg
Craig Thomler
The interim Convener is Peter Timmins.
