The RP reviewed this task and have requested additional information, specifically they questioned why the module was to be implemented in the old Plant rather than the new Plant Modelling Framework (PMF)?

New Fathen Module
Rationale and Justification:
In order to provide technical advice to our agricultural industry on the impact of weeds in forage crops in NZ we require examples of these typical interactions. On consultation with the industry it was decided that fathen (Chenopodium album) was a nationally common and important weed and maize was one of the most wide-spread and common forage crops – particularly for the Dairy industry. We propose to develop a fathen plant module in APSIM and intend on using the well-established maize module and inter-crop and canopy modules to develop further the aspect of weed/crop competition within APSIM.
Details of the proposed improvements:
The proposed model will utilize established findings by (Huang et al, 2001) and validate fathen growth under New Zealand conditions. Initially the module will be developed in APSIM 7.6 using Plant1 but will be migrated to APSIM X and Plant.NET at a sensible point in the future.
Implications for users:
The availability of a published fathen plant growth model.
