Cherry pick API deprecation commits into mbed-os-5.15 #146

The reason for this is for us to be able to update the documentation so it shows examples without deprecated APIs. The commits didn't make it into the release originally.

@0xc0170 , @adbridge , are you OK with us updating the release branch, so that we are able to push https://github.com/ARMmbed/mbed-os/pull/11942 through CI?

@adbridge , not sure about this one... I have the "Rebase and merge" button available, but I want to make sure you and @0xc0170 are okay with this? This should have been a part of release, in my opinion, we were just late with code review, sorry.

Examples are not part of release in that sense.. This is just to update 5.15 branch of the example. Merge/Rebase is OK
