I will review the proposal #1 as soon as you commit it.

@ASU-CompMethodsPhysics-PHY494/phy494_final_baseball Please leave a comment here once the proposal is available.

Note that the proposal should have the names of all team members on it. There should be 2–4 specific objectives with measurable outcomes. It should be about 1 page but it can be longer if necessary.

The Proposal should guide your overall directions of the project and form the basis of your decisions of what to work on.

@ASU-CompMethodsPhysics-PHY494/phy494_final_baseball please address the following points

  1. Call the Algorithm section Approach.
  2. Number the objectives.
  3. Add a Objective 1 "Collect the statistics"; the Approach section should briefly mention where you get the stats from.
  4. Make clearer what you want to do in your (current) Objectives 2 and 3: Be specific. Are you going to solve a physical problem? Is "track the pitch" a visualization meant to illustrate the pitch (e.g. something you'd show on TV to show "and this is how he'd need to pitch in order to succeed"). I don't understand what "maximize pitch movement..." means. You can give more background in the Approach section.

Minor points

  1. It is not clear to me how air density is going to have an effect on the outcome, especially as it was not stated that air density is a parameter in the stats that are used for Objective 1.
  2. If you introduce some randomness into the problem (e.g., simulating outcomes probabilistically) then it would make sense to run the calculations many times and collect the statistics. If you want to do this then I would abandon the objectives related to simulating flight of the ball and rather focus on the probabilistic aspects (along the lines of "simulate 30 starts with 10 different teams").

Note that the 1-page limitation is a soft limited; if you need more space then that's fine.

Please address my points, upload an updated proposal, and leave a comment here asking @orbeckst (that's me) to review again.
