Virus editor not loading in bigger sessions #44

Describe the bug When loading the Virus Editor to a new Ableton session, it opens fine. When I load it into a bigger project file, the plugin won't open. I get the spinning beach ball for several minutes, then have to force close. Running the latest version of Ableton (12.2.7) and Virus Editor (3.0), on a 2021 M1 Macbook Pro. The session runs fine otherwise, so I don't think it's cpu limitation.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open a new Ableton project file, drop the Virus Editor on a MIDI track, and open it up. Works fine.
  2. Open an Ableton project that has 50+ tracks (usually no problem), drop the Virus editor on a MIDI track, and click the wrench icon to open it. Spinning beach ball for several minutes, then have to force close the project.
  3. Try again with VST3, VST, and AUv2. None work.

Expected behavior Virus editor should open in a big ableton session, the same as it does in a new Ableton session.

Hi @esaiah

We have a new build around the corner with additional debugging log available, would be interesting to see what the log file prints out if you can try it. I will drop a line here when new build is available.

I only work with Logic Pro so I don't have big Live projects to try this on at.

@esaiah I did some research on your live reports and they give no indication that our editor is causing the issue. It is just looping inside live processes until it fails to load. Does the session work without virus editor?
