I am so sorry for mangling the config files. I do not know java, I am just an advanced googler. Loom 1.8 didn't seem to work despite being recommended by some people I asked so I used 1.7 instead.

This somehow compiles, somehow runs, and fixes the bug I was complaining about. While this bug was addressed in later versions of the mod, it wasn't for 1.20.1 and might as well backport it for those that play on this version for whatever reason.

oh I also incremented the version of the mod to 1.16.2. I thought that it wouldn't be an issue since 1.16.1 was the last version before the 2.0 release. I don't know I'm not a mod dev I just wanted to make this a simple accept pull request to update to make this painless on your side.

Just letting you know, I've backported update 2.0.1 to 1.20.1 so you won't have this issue anymore :)
