I think it is because the newline is not working for the body of a file, GFM does not work as intended.
Heading--> I can start a heading using #. But I can't close the heading (probably because I can't insert a new line).
Paragraph does not work as well since new line does not work.
Strike through and emphasis does not work.
However, while testing, I find that typing in html works. E.g, typing
