When you do ht or qw (hunt trick or quick where) it changes the mob you're functionally targeting. If your current target was 'a rabbit' but you did qw hedgehog, the targets window would show that rabbit was still selected. If you then tried to kill it with ak/kk/qk you would actually be targeting a hedgehog.
This makes it so that using ht or qw will clear the current target selection if it doesn't match, and select a different target if it matches another one of your targets in the list.
