LGTM. The archive.apache.org location for JMeter artifact should be permanent, so more than a workaround, I think is the best solution, and gives total control to decide when to jump to the next 3.x release of JMeter. Thanks!

@deors, I am going to close this pull request and create another one. This has just one commit for the 2 fixes. I am going to add a commit per fix.
