Prep for Python 3.12 testing once its released.

coverage: 100.0%. remained the same when pulling 4dccb9e61902f4cd56ec589f040ae2629acdfd09 on python3.12 into f83dc90591262bb2b3a56387a1061fbbdc093729 on master.

Changed to 3.12.0-rc.1 for now just to test, change back to 3.12 once its released
