Just posted a comment on http://productivity.stackexchange.com
I'm working on an open source project that does this, it has come quite far and is currently in beta. Throw this comment a vote if you want me to write an answer about it (I need 10 reputation to answer since the question is protected). I probably won't do so until the project is out of beta though.
This was a nice article, some of it in there could to us as well:
Added it to AlternativeTo.
We should probably encourage users to give us a like there.
I recently thought we might want to get users by crawling reddit for comments mentioning RescueTime (and perhaps other alternatives). I searched a bit and found the service TrackReddit which was a easy way to do this without writing code myself.
With it I could set up a live view of reddit content mentioning RescueTime: https://www.trackreddit.com/live/23198/1500309588/
This got >500p on HN today: https://www.sideprojectchecklist.com/marketing-checklist/ (HN)
Maybe FOSSPost would be interested in covering the project, or accepting a guest blogpost.
This list might have us: https://github.com/lk-geimfari/awesomo
Some other place like alternativeto to reference ActivityWatch : (fr) https://framalibre.org/ (fr) https://degooglisons-internet.org/alternative (multi-lang) https://prism-break.org/

I just contacted https://omgubuntu.co.uk, https://itsfoss.com, and https://opensource.com to see if they were willing to write about us. Hopefully they find it interesting so that they just have to write about it :)
@alerque I noticed you're a maintainer for prism-break.org that @1000i100 mentioned. Do you think it would make sense to link it from there? I noticed there wasn't really any suitable category for it (yet ).
I would think so, yes. Someone should open an issue in the tracker and propose it (probably under productivity for now, but if we can think of other things related to this, maybe a new category). A proposal should cover briefly what other products in the same space do as far as handling personal data (most of them give it away to unknown parties in reams) and outline this project's approach to security. Where is data stored, is encrypting it over the wire a priority, will people using it out of the bog have good control over their usage habit data or will the default configuration leak, etc.
@xylix @johan-bjareholt I just added it to a few Quora questions I found that asked about open source time trackers. Please upvote for visibility :)

itsfoss.com wrote about us again! https://news.itsfoss.com/activitywatch-0-11-release/
Hey, I just added an answer to some Apple StackExchange questions, so feel free to upvote them for better visibility :)
I even managed to gain more than 10 reputations in less than an hour, so I also added an answer these two questions:
Edit: Wow, I didn't know my actions would close four questions :D
We might want to share here:
https://productivity.stackexchange.com/questions/13913/linux-automatic-time-tracking-software-for-computer-work (disclose affiliation if creating an answer)I'm pretty sure I have a list of more places where announcements would be appropriate. Unfortunately, I can't be bothered to find it right now since it's still a bit off.
