Freenode Rules:

Primary channel names, formatted with a single leading hash mark (#), are reserved for participating groups and organizations based on their legal or informal claim to the associated name or name prefix.

Looks like we fit there.

Group Registration is here: http://freenode.net/group_registration.shtml

But,

freenode group registration is currently suspended, as the group registration process became significantly backlogged to the point that it was not viable to continue taking new registrations.

I've logged into #adadevacademy, if there's a better name, we can switch. It probably wouldn't hurt if somebody built a bot for it as well to answer some questions, keep history, etc. :)

Here's what I'd recommend. I did this for #mesos and it went fine.

Skip group registration (since the form isn't even available).

Follow instructions here to set channel flags with ChanServ. For example:

/msg ChanServ FLAGS #adadevacademy jlembeck flags +voAti

It's probably a good idea to have a backup op too. I'm happy to be that person.

Awesome, thanks for setting this up! We should probably have some instructions for students about how to join the room on freenode.

I've got that. I'll write it up, then figure out how to not suck at git (IE properly submit the changes I make).

LOL I went and just accidentally pushed to the main repo. I meant to do that to a branch. Sorry. Little punchy.

Yes. I am not sure what I've just done. I'm gonna step away from my desk for a moment, I'm sure it'll all make sense when I sit back down. :)

Yeah, looks like you were on the master branch rather than a feature branch. I'm busy right now, but I can skype with you tonight if you're still confused.
