Because crappy one-liner snarks that got bumped SHOULDN'T be included in the video. And post-generation video snipping or editing is very inconvenient. Either:

  1. Each post are a separate video where you can stitch them together with ffmpeg
  2. There is a vetting function that allows you to pick posts before the video is generated

something like https://youtu.be/i2xSvOiHwiI?t=105 ?

The text selection should be manual (like the video), but the rendering should be on auto-pilot as much as possible. For citation purposes that video is from https://github.com/HA6Bots/Automatic-Youtube-Reddit-Text-To-Speech-Video-Generator-and-Uploader

while the text would be higher quality, I am not the kind to want to invest any time doing the selection

It should be an option, but not necessary if one wants to go easy like you said.
