A general refresh of the package is needed.

Phase 1 - Code cleanup and packaging

• Restructure package
• Migrate packaging to pyproject toml
• Add codespace + gitpod config files

Phase 2 - Readability

• Add typehints
• Update logging
• Add Docstrings
