D600 shutter lag? #101

Please describe here the exact problem with the D600 and the 'shutter lag'

Original issue reported on code.google.com by hub...@gmail.com on 17 Sep 2013 at 5:49

I try to press shutter without lens attached and see that the mirror already up
but the shutter still close and about 3 seconds the shutter snap to take
picture. Exposure delay off. My previous reviews saying that D600 slow in
taking picture compare to D7000, I believe due to this.

When I disconnect the cable... the shutter lag still there... whatever setting
I change... it still lag until I reset the camera.

The only way there could be a shutter lag is with the 'exposure delay' property.
The 'exposure delay' does exactly that, it raises the mirror before the capture
for the given time (1, 2 and 3 sec are valid for d600)
Can you check on camera to it is turned off?

I have a D600, too. I have a similar problem with the 'exposure delay' property.
Initially the display in APP shows the 'exposure delay' is 3 sec, but there is
no exposure delay.
And then I change the 'exposure delay' to be off in the APP, there would have
about 3 sec delay.
After I kept this setup('exposure delay' off) and turn off the APP, I found
there is still 3 sec delay in camera.
BTW, I use SONY NEO to control D600 with WU-1b.

Can one of you check what will the camera show if you change the exposure delay
property in DD. For each value.
Maybe the values are in wrong direction, but I used the ones from the
documentation.
If the following is true
DD Camera
Off 3
1 2
2 3
3 Off
then the documentation is wrong.

I've checked the property in DD.
DD Camera
Off 3
1 2
2 3
3 Off
So there would me a mistake?
I think it is good enough for my use experience. I really appreciate what you
have done!

Cheer!

It doesn't matter which value I choose, it always defaults to theb3 second
delay.

DD only changes the exposure delay when you select a new value from the dialog,
so I'm not sure how can it always be 3 sec. This was on D600 to?

Anyone tested the exposure correction with D600? Is it ok now?

yes, it's ok now!! thx for your kindness!

May I ask another problem below?
I used the bulb function and set the exposure time 35s, but EXIF show that it
expose 35.1s . I think I just set up 35s that DD count and there is still 0.1s
needed that DD control the DSLR to shut the shutter.
Am I right?

There is slight delay between sending the command and receiving the response if
the command is executed. Probably that 0.1 is from that, I will try to fix it.

Hi!

Do you plan on pushing that fix to the current version on Google Play?
