OPNsense Upgrade Issues with Adguard Home Service #6101

Open jeffkirkley opened 1 year ago

Prerequisites

Platform (OS and CPU architecture)

Custom (please mention in the description)

Installation

Other (please mention in the description)

Setup

On one machine

AdGuard Home version

v0.107.36

Action

There appears to be a problem with the latest version of OPNsense. I am running Adguard Home as a server on OPNsense:

OPNsense 23.7.1-amd64 FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p2 OpenSSL 1.1.1v 1 Aug 2023

today, I was prompted within Adguard that a new update was available. I proceeded with the update and instead of things updating, the Adguard screen had no response. Ultimately, I had to go into OPNsense and start the Adguard service. It would seem that with the newer version of OPNsense, that the stop and start service routines during an upgrade process are not working properly.

Expected result

Adugard update within seconds.

Actual result

Screen timed out and quit working.

Additional information and/or screenshots

No response

Hello.

There appears to be a problem with the latest version of OPNsense.

Are you sure that it's an issue with OPNsense and not AdGuard Home? Were there any changes to how the OS handles services?

Ultimately, I had to go into OPNsense and start the Adguard service.

Do you happen to have any logs from that time? Even if verbose logs weren't enabled, they could still help us see what went wrong.

Hello,

Not sure if I have any logs, but this has happened twice in recent weeks. I am not sure who or where the problem lies, but I know that OPNsense has made some changes and I am simply asking if both sets of developers can get together and try and determine if any further changes are needed to ensure a quality product for all. Adguard is great software and it would seem that something may need changing to continue working great with OPNsense.
