AdGuard VPN extension causes blocking of some cross-origin requests #54

Open vsl7 opened 2 years ago

It looks like AdGuard VPN extension causes blocking of some cross-origin requests (for example, requests for some audio tracks on vk.com, where VPN is disabled). No other add-ons, and this problem does not occur when AdGuard VPN extension is disabled.

Steps to reproduce: Open a new Chrome or Firefox profile, install AdGuard VPN extension, register a free account. For VPN country, choose Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland or Turkey; disable VPN for vk.com. Try to play these tracks (under “Все аудиозаписи”): https://vk.com/audio?q=%D0%B0

Extension version: 1.3.42 Browsers: Chrome, Firefox 108.0.2 Platform: Windows 10, different computers

The problem disappears after switching VPN on and then back off for vk.com (reproduced this also on another computer) and appears again after extension reloading.

@vsl7 Hi! I wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Could you share the exact steps to reproduce it?

vsl7 commented 2 years ago

@Birbber The problem occurs only with some VPN countries (e. g., Luxembourg, Netherlands), for audio tracks from search results on vk.com.

Birbber commented 2 years ago

@vsl7 Could you describe what you do step by step?

vsl7 commented 2 years ago

@Birbber Open a new Chrome or Firefox profile, install AdGuard VPN extension, register a free account. For VPN country, choose Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland or Turkey; disable VPN for vk.com. Try to play these tracks (under “Все аудиозаписи”): https://vk.com/audio?q=%D0%B0

@vsl7 Sorry for the long silence! Our team wasn't able to reproduce the issue. Most likely it has nothing to do with the extension itself.

vsl7 commented 2 years ago

The problem still reproduces for me.

mozartinio commented 1 year ago

@vsl7 Sorry for the long reply Does it reproduce on the release version (1.3.42)?

vsl7 commented 1 year ago

@mozartinio Yes.

mozartinio commented 1 year ago

@vsl7 Did you try to reinstall/update browsers and then try again? The issue cant reproduce on our side that's why asking you to check browser

vsl7 commented 1 year ago

@mozartinio The issue reproduces in the latest Firefox, in a new profile.

mozartinio commented 1 year ago

@vsl7 So adding domain (that tab where you listening vk music) to exclusions doesnt help you right?

vsl7 commented 1 year ago

@mozartinio That’s right.

mozartinio commented 1 year ago

@vsl7
Try to add domains from which music goes to vk (like: api.vk.com, im.vk.com, stats.vk-portal.net etc) If that doesn't help try to disable all extensions or install AdGuard VPN extension in a clean profile

vsl7 commented 1 year ago

@mozartinio It seems that adding vkuseraudio.net to the exclusion list and fully enabling VK group makes it work.

mozartinio commented 1 year ago

@vsl7 Then I'll close the issue, if the problem resumes you can reopen the task

vsl7 commented 1 year ago

@mozartinio At least vkuseraudio.net should be added to VK group. However, this doesn’t solve the problem itself and in general.

mozartinio commented 1 year ago

@vsl7 Sorry for the long answer Did you try to connect to another network?
