After opening AdGuard, the ChatGPT webpage displays "error": "slow down". Even after turning off all rules, DNS protection, and incognito mode, the error still persists. Only by completely turning off AdGuard can it work normally. This situation only occurs in the Edge browser on macOS 14.1. The Safari browser can still access ChatGPT normally even with AdGuard enabled. Username:

I was also having the same issue (i.e., the slow down
error in browser while AdGuard was enabled).
I checked my network traffic and the AdGuard debug log, and I think I've found at least two of the problematic rules. In the attached screenshot, I disabled the suspected problematic rules temporarily as a test, and verified that disabling just those two rules fixed the issue.
They are part of the "AdGuard Base Filter" list, version 2.3.8.57
.

Thanks. Just like I said, even if I clear the cookies, disable all filters including the two rules you mentioned, DNS protection, and advanced tracking protection, and openai.com is whitelisted, it still "slows down". I can only access ChatGPT normally by completely disabling AdGuard. This only happens on Edge, if I have AdGuard enabled, I can open ChatGPT normally using Safari.
@QuantumRoseinAmethystVase Interesting. Thanks for the info, I didn't see the comment section where you provided those details. Probably a coincidence or a timing effect in my case that it fixed after disabling those filters. I noticed some quic://
URLs being blocked in the filter log on my end. Did you by chance test temporarily whitelisting quic URLs (while leaving AdGuard enabled)? I've not tried that yet but am curious if it makes any difference.
Cannot reproduce with the same settings. Maybe you are using some tools that spam by requests to chat.openai.com?

Maybe not. I installed a brand new Edge and Google Chrome, without changing any settings or installing any extensions, but the same error occurred. However, AdGuard works fine with my Safari. The problem seems to be related to the interaction between AdGuard and Chromium-based browsers. I have explored for a long time and found the problem. Here is the solution:
These two steps are indispensable.
Now I can access ChatGPT!
Although it still always answers "Something went wrong. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com." And the answer from ChatGPT on my Safari is normal. The problem seems to be only half solved.
Until I changed the UA to Safari for IOS and now it works fine.

Exactly the same behavior as @QuantumRoseinAmethystVase .
Works fine in Safari but not Chrome and Chromium with AdGuard enabled.

Disabled these two, with only the base filter, everything (DNS, stealth mode, userscripts) turned off.
Still the cdn used by openai is returning 429.

I'm not affiliated with AdGuard, but you guys should note that rules that start with @@
are actually whitelist rules, so the purpose of these lines is to actually disable Stealth Mode for these domains and prevent issues that are/could be caused by it:
@@||challenges.cloudflare.com^$stealth
@@||chat.openai.com^$stealth
There's no point in disabling them, and doing so might actually cause CloudFlare to flag you as bots depending on what Stealth Mode options you use.
