Description:

When protection is enabled, the app fails to establish a connection with the caller.

mircealinux commented 3 years ago

I did give my logs 1 week ago trough email and adguard app

threema-danilo commented 3 years ago

This may be relevant. https://github.com/julian-klode/dns66/issues/193 Other WebRTC based apps might also be affected, for example Jitsi, Signal, etc.

I'm not familiar with Adguard. Does it support app whitelisting (predefined and/or user-defined)? If yes, that might be a workaround for users. (Note: Threema definitely will never show any ads, since that is fundamentally opposed to our business model.)

For the moment only in Threema is affected with Adguard defaults settings in calls the chat seems to work ok Signal is working fine Jitsi I don't use don't know Adguard app whitelisting I did not seen that

Maybe you guys can work with adguard on this issue if it's possible

Even with Adguard 3.6.1 the issue is not fixed

artemiv4nov commented 3 years ago

@mircealinux, this task wasn't resolved in the 3.6.1 release because it will be resolved in the 4.0.0 release.

mircealinux commented 3 years ago

Is there a way to be excluded from the adguard ? I mean whitelist ? of course only Thereema

Hello,

Any news?

threema-danilo commented 3 years ago

Adguard team: In case you will use app package based rules, Threema is available in two variants on Google Play:

Additionally, we recently published a version in the Huawei AppGallery as well, which uses a different package name:

Might be relevant to you.

Thank you! Assigned to v3.6.2, we'll try to fix it in the next minor update of AG.

@artemiv4nov here's what we should do:

  1. Check if this issue is reproducible with the default settings. If it's not, then probably this is caused by some additional settings (for instance, users may opt to "block webrtc" - this will be a problem for such apps).
  2. If we cannot reproduce the issue with the default settings, we'll keep it filtered.
  3. If it is reproducible, we'll may have to add it to default exclusions and take a deeper look later when v4 would be closer.

This I know is temporary fix

infinitewaveparticle commented 3 years ago

how are you getting Signal calls to work? they havent worked for me since getting adguard years ago. still arent working because adguard blocks the webrtc connection and even gives that as the reason.

What device you use and what version of Android?

Well, I have just checked, the application is worked on default settings. If the "block WebRtc" setting is on, the Threema application can't call another user.

So, let's do nothing for this application and keep it filtered.

ameshkov commented 3 years ago

@infinitewaveparticle the only way is to disable filtering for Signal app. That shouldn't be a problem because there's no tracking in Signal.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The application is worked on default settings.

To use the specified application, follow the tips described above.

infinitewaveparticle commented 3 years ago

@ameshkov I disable connections that aren't run through the AdGuard (Android) VPN (not the VPN app). I will use this suggestion on Android 7 tho, since that isn't an option until Android 8.

Have tested on 3.6.2 it's not working...

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The application is worked on default settings.

To use the specified application, follow the tips described above.

Not working with adguard 3.6.2

@mircealinux the point is do you have Stealth Mode with "Block WebRTC" enabled? If you do, this is expected behavior and you simply have to disable filtering for this app to use it.

We don't make special exceptions for Threema since "Block WebRTC" is used by only a tiny share of users, and well, that's what this option does - it blocks webrtc.

mircealinux commented 3 years ago

What is webrtc? Is this setting in adguard?

ameshkov commented 3 years ago

@mircealinux right, "Stealth Mode" -> "Block WebRTC".
