Online incompatibilities

There are starting to be multiple indications that this project's online compatibility is nearing its end. There are multiple upcoming changes to dependent online services that will prevent this project from working. Adoxio will not be making changes to try and support these incompatibilities, but if the community wants to put forward pull requests to support them we would accept them as one or more new branches that would be available in this repository.

At present these are online only incompatibilities, and on-premise installations should keep working as long as they do not upgrade to newer versions that include the same changes being introduced into the online versions.

API Incompatibilities

The following API-level changes would require code changes to remain compatible:

CRM SDK WS-Trust Authentication Protocol

• WS-Trust authentication is being removed from Dynamics 365/PowerApps
• End of life date is April 2022

• This could presumably be supported by updating to more recent CRM SDK/NuGet packages than are currently used, but this is purely speculative, the level of effort is unknown, and all technical efforts would be up to the community to perform.

SharePoint Online Legacy Authentication

• Legacy authentication is being removed for Office 365 services, presumably including SharePoint Online
• End of life date may be October 13, 2020

• This could presumably be supported by updating to more recent SharePoint SDK/NuGet packages than are currently used, but this is purely speculative, the level of effort is unknown, and all technical efforts would be up to the community to perform.

Installation Incompatibilities

Unified Interface deprecation

• The details on this are not very clear yet but there are indications that the CRM solutions distributed by Microsoft will presumably not work or be installable because they have not been built to work with the Unified Interface.
• End of life date may be October 1, 2020

• Microsoft controls the distribution of the solutions, and they have not released the solutions as open source for others to be able to modify. No technical solutions or workarounds are known.
