There should be forcefields, possibly using rf (I think the standard ones should also use energy), which don't leak air, but entities can still go through them, similar to vines or grass.
This would be really awesome for futuristic Sci-Fi bases and spaceships. (I'm thinking of the forcefield in the Enterprise-D hangar, though I think the forcefields would make more sense on a planet, because there's actually something to explore, especially if my rover idea would be implemented.)
