Thanks for the update. Could you please give some more info on your commit?

It's actually not a bad idea to just have it delete the last one (-1) and re-add the section but I've had varying results with the .init method not doing what it's supposed to. I will keep it with the .exec option to be sure what's going to happen when someone clicks save & apply.

The quiet mode on uci doesn't really hurt or help anything but why not I'll add it too.

I just googled what the "rm -f /tmp/luci-indexcache" does and it makes the controller file addition/change take effect without a reboot of the router. Good info. Thanks for the suggestions qiuzi I'll add the changes I liked :)
