Enhance Notification messages (too verbose) #374

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

I report this as a feature request... The actual activity notifications
have a Contact Presence Changes... This is rendundant i think. In my case i
don't like to see when a contact changes to busy or when the contact is
offline... My request is to remove that entry and add the next entries:

Contact is online
Contact is offline
Contact presence changes (when a contact changes for example from connected
to busy)

What the community think?

Cheers!

Yeah i was planning on requesting this as well. also, when you sign in you get
notifications for all the connected contacts which is really useless.

This is a problem with the msn protocol i think, because this that not happens
in the
XMPP protocol and the same problem i have in emesene

Ah yes, this is definitely messed. I'm not sure since when but it used to be ok.

Its MSN specific, and I will fix it.

We also need to redesign the text of notification. Aside from the fact it's
unreadable with Ubuntu's new notify-osd (thanks Canonical), it's kinda hard to
read
even with normal notification daemon.

I think the Pidgin way (title is the name of contact, text is just what
happened) is
way better here.

By the way, the problem with notification flood on startup applies to XMPP as
well.
In XMPP, there is no way to figure out when it stops. I'm just not showing them
for a
certain period of time after login. (Not perfect, but works unless you have
really
slow connection)

I like the idea to do the notifications like pidgin... The way like pidgin
concatenate the messages in one bubble is awesome!

It would really be much easier to track if you used the "merge into" field. Try
it
next time.
