Problemas com a sigla ed. com texto escrito em inglês #72

Prezado(s),

Estou escrevendo um documento em inglês e então com um problema com a sigla 
ed. (edition) nas referências. Veja, por favor, o seguinte exemplo:

@book{mendelson1990,
  title={Introduction to topology},
  author={Mendelson, B.},
  year={1990},
  edition={{3th} ed},
  publisher={Dover Publication, Inc.},
  Address = {New York}
}

Ao compilar o documento tem-se: 
MENDELSON, B. Introduction to topology. 3th ed. New York: Dover Publication, 
Inc.,
1990.

No entanto, como devo proceder para aparecer uma vírgula após a sigla "ed." 
como em:
MENDELSON, B. Introduction to topology. 3th ed., New York: Dover Publication, 
Inc.,
1990.

Caro Alisson,

A NBR 6023:2002, na pg. 16, não coloca vírgula depois de edição, somente 
ponto. Há alguma razão para você querer por vírgula? (Pois não faz sentido 
sintaticamente.)

(Além disso, 3ª em inglês é "3rd".)
