Ok, I got some initial visa cost info (~250 $ total) and added the travel distance. Next up is checking travel costs. If you have any other cost estimates (for lodging and events) please put it directly in @gr2m initial post.

gr2m commented 11 years ago

I think we can leave out the events for now, but it would be great to get some estimates for travel and lodging for each location.

gr2m commented 11 years ago

fly540.com was recommended to me once, but it only offers flights Dar Es Salaam -> Nairobi, wich is $ 228 / person

gr2m commented 11 years ago

I found a house in Dar es Salaam, 1 week for up to 10 people, $900 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/358073

just to get an idea ...

gr2m commented 11 years ago

I'd suggest to leave out the events of the costs break down. Makes the whole thing simpler. And for the events, we definitely need sponsors, so it's an entirely separated task

I've had two great experiences with AirBnB. A single house would make things simpler. Agreed with gr2m on leaving the event costs out of the pricing sheet. Maybe we can put together a separate pricing sheet for events.

ghost commented 11 years ago

FYI, If I book right now, it'll cost me approx. $1600 USD to get to Nairobi.

From SFO

gr2m commented 11 years ago

I'd also suggest to leave out vaccination, as they are differences for each participant, just as it is with flights.

gr2m commented 11 years ago

We need to add tickets to http://www.demo-africa.com/ to the costs breakdown, but I couldn't find out what the costs have been this year. Let's say they are 100$, I'm positive we'll end up with a costs breakdown of below $ 1500 USD.

Shall we close this ticket? @jancborchardt

jancborchardt commented 11 years ago

Yeah, looks good!
