Added a waiting list #34

Hi,

I talked to Alex about the Africa trip and I thought it sounded very interesting. I've wanted to go down there for 1-2 years now but never got around to it.

As per Alex' suggestion, the best way to put myself on the waiting list was simply to add a waiting list to the website and make a pull request, so here it is :-)

I have a friend who has a startup accelerator in Nairobi (Kresten Buch, http://www.88mph.ac/), maybe you already know him (or his accelerator) as he was based in Berlin for a while. He also has a football club in a neighboring city, which I guess could be a fun non-tech event (http://www.nakuruallstars.com/). I'll obviously be happy to make the introduction regardless of me joining the trip or not.

Thanks, Tobias

@gr2m can you check this out?

jancborchardt commented 11 years ago

And @tupergud just to check, is this still current? :)

gr2m commented 11 years ago

Yes, I'm on it later today. Sorry to let you wait @tupergud.

gr2m commented 11 years ago

@tupergud could you answer the questions, as the team did it?

tobiasc commented 11 years ago

Sure :-)

Who are you? I'm a 32 year old Danish guy, currently living in Berlin. I lived in Silicon Valley for a couple of years and worked for a company that went from startup to corporation. After it became a corporation I decided it was time to try something else, so I moved to Berlin and I'm currently freelancing, mostly doing backend stuff.

Why are you supporting the project? Over the past couple of years I've heard many interesting tales of what's going on in the tech scene of Eastern Africa and I even have a friend who moved there a couple of years ago. From what he tells me it sounds both chaotic and amazing at the same time, I'd really like to experience that myself. Also I love to travel and experience different cultures, unfortunately Africa is uncharted territory for me, I'd like to change that.

What are your expectations? I hope to get some real insights into how things work in Eastern Africa, obviously things work in a different way there than in Europe/US. I believe a key ingredient in working together with people from different cultures is to understand their culture.

What are your fears? None, I'm certain that regardless of what happens it'll be an awesome experience!

What should be the goal of the AfricaHackTrip? To learn from each other, share ideas, & plant some seeds for further collaboration.

What would you like to contribute? Anything I can

gr2m commented 11 years ago

Thanks! I'll put that in, just not sure where & how yet. I have it on my list, cheers!

I've made a Waiting List Page in our wiki, you're on top of the list ;-) I've also put in a link on our website
