Pledgie campaign #46

We had a few people asking us how to support the project. I think the simplest thing to do would be to setup a Pledgie campaign, what you think?

And with it, I got the idea perk idea:

people / companies can sponsor mini-interviews, we could make up to 5 per day for sure. We will just ask basic questions, the donor can also suggest some. 20$ for normal people, 50$ for companies. At the end of the video, we'll say thank you and mention the sponsor for the particular mini-interview.

I think we could do 100 mini-interviews during the 5 weeks of our trip. That'd be an extra 2$ USD.

What you think? Any other ideas?

Let's just have being on the supporter list the perk and that's it. Artificial connections like the one you suggest feel just like that: artificial. I think we should go for authenticity and honesty in every way possible.

By the way, why not do a normal Kickstarter campaign for the documentary? We could try to crowd-finance the camera equipment from people who want to see the movie and learn about the East-African tech scene.

we can't do kickstarter (U.S./U.K. only) but indiegogo or so. Not sure how much buzz we would be able to generate, though. I guess we'd have to make another video at least...?!

If someone wants to put this together, please go ahead. I think this will be quite some work, it needs someone to take ownership, and it must happen very soon.

I don't get it. What's the difference between the Pledgie and the Kickstarter? I didn't suggest crowdfunding with Perks in the first place.

So this sounds like a good idea, does someone want to take the lead on it?

Let's discuss when we're in Nairobi
