worst case scenario: international hospitals / procedure #82

so, just to be prepared, let's gather contact addresses for international hospitals in all 4 locations.

Also: what happens if someone of us needs to go to the hospital? Do we need to pay privately, get a refund of our insurances later? Do we have to pay in advance? Any experiences here?

Adresses: I got that covered. There will be a 10-pager for every city we visit with nothing but infos like that. (I "only" need to sort the intel, but it's all here.)

Be prepared to pay in advance. If you have a gesetzliche KV in Germany, you should be covered for holidays up to 6 weeks and get payback. If you have a private KV, you should be covered even better. Check your tariff, and if you're not sure: Call your insurance and ask.

The travel health insurance I used in 2011 is: http://www.care-concept.de/auslandskrankenversicherung.php Do some research, I'm not sure it's still the best. And as I said: For up to 6 weeks, you should be fine with your normal health insurance.

As far as I know, the GKV in Germany only covers the EU. If the law didn't changed the last few years, an additional instance is needed.
