i wrote a first draft - have fun making it better :) https://github.com/AfricaHackTrip/africahacktrip.github.io/wiki/Invite-Nairobi

jancborchardt commented 10 years ago

Cool! I added some small adjustments.

@njerichelimo would be cool if we can get your feedback too! :) We’re planning our Nairobi event for September 26–27 (Thursday–Friday) and would love to hear your opinion on our plans: https://github.com/AfricaHackTrip/africahacktrip.github.io/wiki/Invite-Nairobi

@xMartin @jancborchardt @bumi @skddc @NjeriChelimo

Can I send the invite out??

raucao commented 10 years ago

Do we have updated descriptions now? The old ones that someone sent out were more like internal notes of what the events should be like rather than good promo texts or invitations.

jancborchardt commented 10 years ago

@skddc that’s what this thread is about, please proofread https://github.com/AfricaHackTrip/africahacktrip.github.io/wiki/Invite-Nairobi

raucao commented 10 years ago

Thanks.

marthawurm commented 10 years ago

I think the invite is ready to send out! Were you able to get in touch with user groups?

hey njeri - thanks so much for your feedback, it means a lot to us!! i don't know whether anyone from the user groups replied, but jan emailed them, so: fingers crossed! :)

jancborchardt commented 10 years ago

Yeah, I mailed some of the Mozilla Kenya folks already. @NjeriChelimo which are other relevant user groups we should contact? On Sep 4, 2013 9:46 PM, "myamy" notifications@github.com wrote:

I think we should consider the Nairobi Ruby User Group, Python User Group, and Openstack User group. I'm a co-organizer for 2 of them, so I can send out the emails of you'd like me to :)

Let's start a JavaScript user group! @jancborchardt knows how to do that ;)

raucao commented 10 years ago

Count me in. :)

Nairobi.js it is then!

gr2m commented 10 years ago

hey everyone, are we all set with Nairobi?

jancborchardt commented 10 years ago

I sent the invite to some Mozilla reps. @myamy you sent it to the venue and press contacts, right? @NjeriChelimo if you’re co-organizer of these user groups it would be cool if you could send the invite out to them too. :)

I just saw the link is stale / the wiki page does not exist anymore – is there an updated invite somewhere @myamy? A banner like for Kigali would also be cool cc @EmiMaj :)

i changed the top line and worked in some of martin's changes and the links to the event pages (iHub wants an Eventbrite event, still figuring out how to connect them with Lanyrd sessions) - does that change the whole document? apparently, it does. weird stuff, this hacking.. anyhoo, here's the updated version: https://github.com/AfricaHackTrip/africahacktrip.github.io/wiki/AfricaHackTrip-meets-Nairobi-Hack-Scene and yes, i sent this out.
