Events Kigali

We talked to Jon and Clarisse of The Offce. They are really welcoming and generally awesome. Joining us for this event are Luke from GitHub and Arky from Mozilla.

The plan is:

• Friday, 11 October: Barcamp / Unconference (~4:30 PM – 9 PM, GitHub drinkup afterwards)
• Saturday 12 October: Hackathon (10 AM – 6 PM)
• On the Wednesday or Thursday before we can participate in a hackathon for girls, half-day at a university. It will be organized by Jon, Clarisse and some others too so they said they could do it when we’re there. Awesome!

Some details we talked about:

• We could get some projects to maybe open source parts to work on.
• They really like that we also have designers on board. Jon said he can get some local designers to come and participate.
• 30-50 participants, maybe even more for the drinkup
• Jon has some great catering ideas involving local food

• [ ] craft invitation text which makes clear which people we want to have on board (devs, designers, open source, web, mobile, …)
• [ ] let local user groups also know about it
