Is your plugin supporting Inner Variation bundle (EE only) ? #150

Hello,

We are working with a Akeneo EE that has this Bundle installed for creating Configurable products in Akeneo.

Is your module supporting this module: https://marketplace.akeneo.com/package/inner-variation-bundle-ee-only ?

Hello @popoviciandrei.

Our module does not support Inner Variation Bundle.

However Inner Variation is "natively implemented" in Akeneo 2.0 with the new product model and family variant.

PIMGento will be soon compatible with Akeneo 2.0 if you wish to upgrade your PIM in this version.

Does this mean that Pimgento compatibility with Akeneo 2.0 will allow the configurable products created by Inner Variation to go nicely in Magento?

Also where can I watch the roadmap next week?

@popoviciandrei,

Not it will only allow the compatibility with Akeneo 2.0 new variant system which is quite similar to the Inner Variation Bundle. We cannot guaranty this will work for Inner Variation for previous version because we don't have access to Inner Variation export files.

But if you have the opportunity to upgrade your PIM in 2.0, the new migration tool will manage standard use case of the InnerVariation Bundle to v2.0 product model which PIMGento will be compatible with.

The roadmap will be push on this GitHub repository.

Hi @DnD-Tuk. Please would you advise what could be the impact of us upgrading our PIM & later Akeneo to 2.0 to:

a) The work the client has done in Akeneo - would they need to back up their data & will they need to rework the data? b) If Andrei uses Inner Variation Bundle module now then we upgrade to Akeneo 2.0 - I presume all that work will need to be removed.

Do you have details of when the roadmap might be available?

Hello @r3dboxdigital,

Well depending on the version of Akeneo you have, it can be more or less tricky to upgrade to 2.0. If you have a 1.7 version it will be easier because of the migration tool provided by Akeneo I talk about to Andrei in my previous post. You can read more about it at https://github.com/akeneo/transporteo.

A migration is not synonym in a loss of data, because you can always migrate your data in multiple ways (csv, api, database, migration tool).

This repository is only about PIMGento and not Akeneo. It's up to you if you want to upgrade your Akeneo or not. I only suggested this solution to Andrei because we will not have a compatibility with Inner Variation but Akeneo 2.0.

The roadmap for PIMGento will be available next week.
