We do have a foreground service function to support notifications for phones that don't have Google Play Services installed/enabled. Perhaps we can add a toggle to the app to enable it manually, which would keep the app polling for notifications

A lot of people on privacy/security Android OS's use an alternative google play client to download apps from there One of the more popular ones is called Aurora. So I tried installing the app on graphene through aurora and I got the same issue The foreground service didn't launch. Install it from here: https://files.auroraoss.com/AuroraStore/Nightly/AuroraStore-nightly-signed-202208260000.apk Use the anonymous login in aurora
