Work on this has started, as proof of concept. For the year 2016 we have added available NDVI datasets to the database. The source is the data used for the 'GroenMonitor': the calibrated satellite imagery at 25x25m resolution. For 26 dates in 2016 there are usable images available.

Next we need to build API requests to access this data.

Possible raster related query requests (don't have to be implemented all at once):

• retrieve information about the dataset

  • meta data of the dataset (source, extent, coordinate system, description, version, etc.)
  • dates of available images
  • spatially and/or temporaly aggregated data for the region
  • value counts, summary stats, quantiles, histogram
  • find values (e.g. return dates and locations for ndvi >= 0.8)

• retrieve data for a point

  • dates for which data is available (optionally include NODATA)
  • meta data of available data (image source, etc.)
  • time series of available data (optionally include NODATA)
  • temporaly aggregated data for the point
  • value counts, summary stats, quantiles, histogram

• retrieve data for a region (can be a farm field, limit on area for performance reasons)

  • centroids (and geometries?) of all raster cells in the region
  • image (jpg, png, geo tiff) of the data (for an available date)
  • animation (gif?) of the data (for available dates)
  • dates for which data is available (full region coverage, optionally include NODATA)
  • time series of available data for each raster cell in the region (optionally include NODATA)
  • spatially and/or temporaly aggregated data for the region
  • value counts, summary stats, quantiles, histogram

Besides querying available data we can also add raster data processing on the server, but that should be a different issue (if someone would need it).
