5 years ago The tipping bucket idea was proposed based on a tipping bucket rain gauge which is used to measure precipitation depth based on the number of "dumps." The "bucket" is calibrated to dump after a certain volume of water is delivered. Looking into how these are designed maybe helpful.

Influent System -2/9 decided on 4 separate influent pipes from tipping bucket to bottom of reactor -need to decide:
[ ] dimensions for bucket that will separate the tipping bucket dump into 4 even sections "separator bucket"
[ ] height for separator bucket to determine head pressure
[ ] where on UASB tank each influent pipe will enter to maximize stability/evenness of flow distribution
[ ] use pipe data base to calculate diameter of influent pipes to achieve desired upflow velocity
[ ] figure out 45 degree fittings vs 90 degree fittings
[ ] figure out the placement of the influent pipes so that they aren't overlapping
[ ] consider adding nozzles or using pipes with different diameters so that the velocity of wastewater exiting each pipe is approximately the same
[ ] design frame to hold up tipping bucket/influent system
