Research, design and model tipping bucket system for use in UASB Design considerations:

Volume is still variable and will be determined once code is complete
With new design, only one bucket is necessary
Want to have zero "splashing" of wastewater, consider putting bucket into storage tank
System needs to not wear down easily, and needs to have a replacement system that is easy to use in case of failure. Safety system should also account for wastewater flow (diverter?)

To-do:

Determine optimal tank dimensions given 5 gallon bucket Find and order materials for testing next week:

5-gallon bucket
Large hose clamp (wide enough to wrap around bucket with room to spare)
Plastic for pivot pieces if not available in lab

Figure out how to best fabricate plastic cap piece such that hose clamp can properly lock on to bucket Figure out how to fabricate U-shaped pivot holder Write documentation in manual and fabrication manual in prepartion for Fall semester
