3/9/19 Finding force using pulley system #60

(Bottle weight empty = 114.7 g) Plate opens 1 = 1303.6 g (only water and weight content in the bottle) (the plate was opened for a long time) Water level in head tank kept at overflow pipe height (16.7 cm from bottom of the tank) Plate opens 2 = 1261.5 g Plate opens 3 = 1277.9 g Plate opens 4 = 1262.5 g Plate opens 5 = 1254.2 g Plate opens 6 = 1269.4 g

Filling the water bottle until the plate opens, and then transfer the water in the bottle to another empty beaker until the plate closes Empty bottle weighs 116.2 g Empty beaker weighs 71.12 g Plate opens | Plate closes

Mass of contents in bottle: 743.2 g Mass of contents in beaker: 639.5 - 71.12 g = 568.38 g Plate open content: 568.38 g + 743.2 = 1311.58 g

Mass of plate + rod + hook = 105.9 g

redo pulley weight experiments add water until plate opens = Minimum force to open plate

bottle mass: 59.8 g contents of bottle + bottle mass: 1) 1309.7 g * 2) 1260 g 3) 1320.7 g

changed scale because readings were all over the place bottle mass: 115.9 g contents of bottle + bottle mass: 1) 1340.4 g 2) 1353.7 g 3) 1355.3 g 4) 1346.1 g 5) 1362.0 g

Force to close valve after it has been opened mass of container: 81.1 g minimum force to close valve - measured mass as soon as valve was able to open (started opening/closing by itself) first, find force to open valve as before: 1) 1309.5 g (valve opens), 755.0 g (valve cycles) 2) 1314.5 g (valve opens), 760.2 g (valve cycles), 323.4 g (valve stays closed) 3) 1254.7 g, 741.8 g, 407.8 g 4) 1242.8 g, 676.6 g, 138.2 g 5) plate came loose

I think the important force to look at is the point when the valve cycles Should we have pressurized air chamber before? (I think it doesn't matter?)

  2. 1236.3 g (valve opens), 707.1 g (valve cycles), 361.3 g (valve stays closed)
