Update to Support Angular 18 #290

This updates the library to v8.0.0 and supports Angular 18

Addresses #289

I tried to help out here, but since the package.json has the library as a dependency, I have no way of getting this to actually work because I, understandably, cannot deploy to NPM.

Thanks for the PR @JaxonWright . I highly appreciate this. Closing in favor of #291 which didn't have issues with package.json dependencies. And a new release (8.0.0) has been published now
