Create a reproducible method for a small-scale all-taxa biodiversity inventory #54

The core idea is to create a method for citizen science to make a small-scale (perhaps a square meter) all-taxa biodiversity inventory/repeatable rapid biodiversity assessment. It's sort of a bioblitz, but even smaller.

I want to create a method that anyone can use, go out and have fun, and hopefully help build on the body of knowledge about the biodiversity in an area.

I wrote down some thoughts that can help develop tangible goals and aim: Values Simple, reproducible and fun.

Simple It should be easy for anyone to do. Thus, it should not require expensive equipment, extensive travel or time commitments.

Reproducible It should be possible for anyone to create a comparable inventorization. Also, it should be possible to repeat the inventory for the same place over time.

Fun The person(s) conducting the inventory, as well as the inventorees, should be able to enjoy themselves. The amount of admin work should be kept as low as possible. It is not fun if anyone (humans or other species) comes to harm, so staying safe and not touching unknown animals is important. Non-intrusive, non-lethal. It is also not fun to get a criminal record, so make sure all local laws and regulations are followed. If in a protected area, make sure it is allowed, and check if specific care of observing or reporting specific species is needed (due to conservation status or the fragility of the species).
