Ideas of some abilities, improvements and one item #112

I just think about how to write all that stuff here. Because there too much and i am created so many threads here already, so i decided to write all in one. I know you haven't time for that now but wondering what are you think about all of it.

  1. Etherium Broadsword throw ability. Change current mechanic to: While holding Right-Click (or other if rebind) button and press movement button it throws you in that movement direction. It can add more combat usability i guess. For evade danger to sides too and even for rush forward into battle.
  2. Active ability that highlights all living entities in a certain radius even through blocks and imposes blindness on the player for a short time. So player will see living creatures as silhouettes in darkness through all. I think this ability might work well with Heart of the Golem.
  3. Active ability to launch explosive fireballs. Like that one fom Ghast but much faster and not flammable. It will be equally useful both in battle and when removing unnecessary blocks that are difficult to reach (without two extremely useful scrolls). Maybe it can be a decent ability for Blazing Core.
  4. I dont really know about possibility to create or even needness of this but anyway. What if Pearl of the Void will have active ability to produce small singularity that absorb all entities and blocks around, deal void damage and then explodes after some time or reaching critical mass after absorbing too much. Explosion damage equal to absorbed matter. Also if etherium item falls into singularity, then singularity reaches critical mass an instant and explosion will be even more powerful. Can be cast within 10 blocks away at the point of view and tightens everything within a 5 block radius.
  5. Passive ability that give you two yellow hearts. If you receive damage and not loose all yellow hearts they starts to regenerate within 5 seconds. If loose all of them then ability needs much more time with cooldown to regenerate them again. If that ability in item then cooldown shows on that item. Needs synergy with Absorption status effect to regenerate Absorption hearts too while that status effect works. I don't know what item it should be. Maybe in the future this ability may come in handy somewhere.
  6. Mechanical crossbow with rapidfire. No need to reload manually and have less reload time but also deal less damage with less range. Can be enchanted with crossbow enchantments. Rapidfire crossbow is just cool thing so why not.
  7. Charged jump like an unique ability to some item. Thing that i writed about in #35 but not like status effect now. I still think that it can improve the gameplay if we can control our jump power for example from 1 to 2.5 blocks without gravity manipulations.
  8. This is more like a question because i'm not sure about, should i write it here to you or to TheIllusiveC4? Possibility to see cooldowns of Curios items near the hotbar when appears. It's cool that spellstones has cooldowns but not cool that we can't see them unless we haven't another one in hotbar slot.

Ah, that's fine. You indeed created a lot of issues already, but having those ideas as issues helps to keep track of what there's yet to be worked on and what are the priorities.

1) Sounds cool. I feel like such thing shouldn't be limited to broadsword though, however currently I can't think of how to implement it on something that wouldn't be either a mainhand weapon or offhand... thing. I will consider how to go about it in the meantime, but it's most certainly an approved suggestion. 2) Heart of the Golem is already heavily stacked with all of it's passive traits, I don't think it neccessarily needs an active ability even if we can think of one that would fit. The effect itself though once again sounds like something worth making as it's own thing. 3) Yeeting fireballs is a bit of an overused ability among magic mods, but it might be interesting with certain tweaks. Like, for instance, making those fireballs more destructive, but letting them be affected by gravity could be an interesting design. And yeah, Blazing Core definitely deserves an active ability, so why not. 4) Very difficult to make both mechanically and in terms of custom visual effects it will most certainly need. Chances I will ever decide that I want to attempt this are, to be honest, not high. 5) Sounds hella weird. Though I have considered having a mechanic closer to something like Runic Shield from Thaumcraft, which is basically the same thing you suggest but has more fanciness and common sense to itself. 6) No promises but worth considering. 7) I dunno, perhaps. 8) Actually I have went and asked C4 myself today on his Discord server about this, and he have confirmed that it makes sense to have such feature in Curios. Either I'll make a pull request on this matter or he's gonna find some time to get it done sooner than I will, but either it's gonna be there eventually.

About yellow hearts ability. Actually i'm think about fact that Absorbtion status effect is not fade away when we loose all Absobtion hearts and we just have a blank status effect when it happens. So that kind of ability can make this status effect more usable while it lasts, even if we loose all hearts. Plus we can take 8 hearts maximum from Absorbtion 4 and if we will have ability for 2 more it can fill it to 10, just like red hearts. Maybe that ability will can be upgradable so that it not be OP compared to Runic Shield from Thaumcraft.

Speaking of upgrades.

  1. Can you add some special ability stones and expand opportunities of Smithing Table with some mechanic for advanced gear upgrade? So that using these ability stones with your gear on Smithing Table will add that unique abilities to them. For example it can work (i guess) with throw ability (that currently tied to Etherium Broadsword only) or any other ability you can make, or for those that i described above too. And also add restrictions on ability stones for the types of items (for swords/pickaxes/shields only etc.) or add different abilities for ability stone using on different types of items. And maybe even some unique icons and models for gear that upgraded like this (like it works with "diamond to netherite" gear).

I also remembered a few more ideas that i forgot to describe.

  1. Other color for negative perks. I think there are some players who sometimes forget to read the instructions before using new items (besides... yep it happens to me sometimes). Can you change description color for negative perks on spellstones and on Ring of the Seven Curses? So people can add more attention on that things before using it. For example it can be red color but with a more saturated hue than on curses.
  2. Villager autotrade block. Guess you will not interesting in this one but anyway: Block with two inventory spaces. Villagers can "trade" with that block taking items from "giving" space and give back trading items into "taking away" space. If place the hopper from above it will transmit items to "giving" space and if place hopper from below it will give items to hopper from "taking away" space. It can add oportunity to build Villager powered resource factories. [UPD] It also needs filter slots for trades.
