Voice calls don't work in Firefox #112

Using Firefox (Wayland) with Sway on Archlinux x86_64. Voice calls don't seem to work at all, e.g. there are no buttons to start them, nothing happens if there is an ongoing group call and I try to join it. The call bar is displayed properly, though. I am also able to record voice messages just fine.

WebRTC and other "web-browser-conferencing-stuff" works as expected with Jitsi Meet, Discord and Zoom. Mozilla's WebRTC test page also behaves correctly.

I don't know how to debug web applications, hence the lack of technical information.

Hey, can you try running it in Chrome?

mradermaxlol commented 2 years ago

Sure thing, it seems to work in Chromium. All the related buttons are in place and connecting to group voice chats also works.

mradermaxlol commented 2 years ago

Now that I think about it, my friends using Firefox on Windows also couldn't use the voice chat functionality during initial testing one or two weeks ago, so this issue doesn't seem to be platform-specific.

I can confirm it does not work on Firefox on Mac

ayan-b commented 2 years ago

Can confirm this. Doesn't work in Firefox 99.0 on macOS Monterey.

A temporary solution is to use the user-agent switcher extension and switch to Chrome's user-agent when using Telegram web.

@Ajaxy any thoughts on this?

Changing the user-agent to chrome doesn't work. What API is firefox missing? Maybe we can poly-fill it?
