I have followed your installation instructions on my HTC Desire up to the 
point where I am supposed to 'longpress' a textfiled to access setting.

Instead of configuration settings, I get to choose Edit method.
Longpress Enter opens Smiley 'library'.

OK, it worked after I accepted collection of input data looking like an 
unwanted 
security issue.
